Summer Maternity Photo Session | Outdoor Park in Atlanta, GA

You would never guess that it was a hot July day in Atlanta with (of course) extremely high humidity during this photo session. We did our session in the morning to try to beat the heat and sought out shade, breezes, and water as needed. This lovely couple were champions about looking cool, calm, and collected even in the discomfort of the warmth. Way to go!

This quiet, peaceful pond and garden location is perfect for a laidback photo session. You can feel yourself taking deep breaths and calming the minute you descend the stone steps into the garden area. Plus, the summertime greenery was perfect and add great color to the photos.

Photo Highlights from an At Home Newborn Session

I have said lately how much I love getting to know all the family’s that I photograph? I truly do. I enjoy hearing about their lives, watching their personalities, and seeing how the interact. I have known this mom for a little while now, and let me tell you, this mama is impressive. I took this portrait of her and I think it shows the beauty and strength she has. This is her third baby and she is completely rocking this whole motherhood thing. Wow!

While the older kids were distracted, I took a few quiet moments with the parents and their new baby. It is nice to be able to capture photos of them with the youngest and show their already strong bond and love for this little guy and each other.

These big sisters are already doing a great job loving on and caring for their newest little brother. They both were so proud and gentle when holding him. Siblings are just the best!

Nothing quite like getting a picture of the whole family. I love this series of photos I took because it shows how they were interacting together, laughing, and enjoying the newest little family member.

At Home Newborn Photography | Decatur Newborn Photographer

First time parents welcome their precious baby girl to their home.

Another sweet summer babe has joined us and I was able to photograph her in those first precious weeks after she was born. I loved the nursery and how it was decorated for this session. It was not a large space, but everything in it was thoughtfully decorated and meaningful to the mom. In fact, this rocking chair was her grandmother’s and the basis for the rest of the decorations. So, of course, we had to get photos of mom and baby in the chair. She was so cozy on her mom’s chest that she took a little nap.

The weather was so nice (and not too hot yet!) and it was more of an overcast day, so we headed out into their backyard to snap a few more photos. We used a quilt that was special to the family to take some close-up pictures of the newborn baby & some with the mom.
